A Paralympic Sports Center is planned to be built in Kant town. The President of the Kyrgyz National Paralympic Committee Toktorbek Aidyraliev said at a press conference in Bishkek.
«On May 23, the committee’s election assembly was held. The President of the Asian Paralympic Committee Majid Abdullah Al Usaimi participated in it. We discussed construction of a new, modern Paralympic Sports Center in Kant for $1.5 million. The conceptual design is already ready and has been sent to the sponsors. The Asian Paralympic Committee and the Red Cross are providing the funds,» he said.
He also noted that participants of the meeting discussed the possibility of upgrading the country’s existing gyms to adapt them for people with disabilities.
«It will be much cheaper than building new gyms across the country. It is necessary to install ramps and the necessary infrastructure,» Aidyraliev said.
The Paralympic Committee includes more than seven sport federations — table tennis, archery, mountain skiing, cycling, powerlifting, arm wrestling and wrestling. The sports school for tennis, Paralympic and power sports is the only school in Kyrgyzstan that has the status of a Paralympic school and develops sports for disabled in the country.
