Kyrgyzstan and EBRD agree to promote e-commerce

Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev met with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso and the Vice President Alain Pilloux, as well as a number of heads of the bank’s regional offices on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Press service of the Ministry of Economy reported.

Participants of the meeting discussed issues of the macroeconomic situation in connection with the impact of the conflict in Ukraine, ensuring food security, as well as implementation of projects in the energy sector. Agreements were reached on promotion of joint projects in the field of e-commerce, railway infrastructure, irrigation, support for small and medium-sized businesses and green transformation.

Daniyar Amangeldiev held bilateral meetings with the Vice President of the European Investment Bank Thomas Ostros, the head of the delegation of Moldova, Minister of Economy Sergiu Gaibu, the EBRD Director for Infrastructure in Central Asia and Mongolia Katerina Miroshnik, Director for Energy of Eurasia, the Middle East and Africa, the EBRD Sustainable Infrastructure Group Aida Sitdikova.

«During the meeting with Thomas Ostros, the parties discussed issues of expanding the portfolio of joint projects and the possibility of opening a regional representative office of the bank in Central Asia in Bishkek. The parties agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation, develop and implement new joint projects. Separate meetings are also planned with the Turkish delegation headed by the Treasury and Finance Minister of Turkey Nureddin Nebati, the Hungarian delegation, headed by the Finance Minister of Hungary Mihaly Varga, and other heads of official delegations,» the statement says.
