World Sambo Championship will be held in Bishkek in the autumn. The International Sambo Federation reported.
The corresponding decisions were taken by the members of the FIAS Executive Committee on April 27.
«The World Sambo Championship 2022 was to be held in Ashkhabad (Turkmenistan), and the Youth World Championship — in Panagyurishte (Bulgaria). However, the national federations of these countries sent requests to FIAS to postpone the venues of these tournaments.
After considering the proposals from the candidate countries to host the World Championships, the application of the Sambo Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic was put to a vote and it was supported.
The tournament will be held in Bishkek on the same dates as it was planned earlier, from November 11 to 13,» the statement says.
FIAS Executive Committee members decided that the Youth World Sambo Championship will be held in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia, on the same dates as planned: from October 14 to October 16.
Earlier, Yerevan was supposed to host the World Sambo Masters Championship, but the FIAS Executive Committee members voted for the postponement of the tournament to the next year. The Cadet World Championship, which was to be held in December this year in the capital of Moldova Chisinau, is also postponed to 2023.
