Bakyt Torobaev discusses development of energy sector with French company

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev met with the Director of the Representative Office of Électricité de France in Russia and the CIS countries Laurent Paganon and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the Kyrgyz Republic. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Kyrgyzstan is open to investors’ proposals for participation in the implementation of projects in the energy sector, including renewable energy sources.

«We are able to generate 142 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. Our priority is the construction of Kambarata HPP-1, small HPPs, as well as solar and wind stations. We are interested in the development of green economy projects,» Bakyt Torobaev said.

Laurent Paganon, director of the Representative Office of Électricité de France, expressed interest in cooperation on projects in the energy sector, in particular on the construction of large hydroelectric power plants. As a result of the meeting, the parties decided to create a working group to further study the issues of cooperation.

Électricité de France is a French multinational electric power company. It operates a diverse portfolio of 120+ gigawatts of generating capacity in Europe, South America, North America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. In 2009, the company was the largest electricity producer in the world.
