Main irrigation canal being built in Kadamdzhai

During his working trip to Batken region, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov inspected construction of the main canal at Algakadam site in Kadamdzhai town. Press service of the government reported.

Rock blasting has been carried out for passage of the canal.

Canal will provide 4,200 hectares of land with irrigation water. The length of the irrigation object will be 27,8 kilometers. The approximate cost of the project is 634.2 million soms.

Akylbek Japarov stressed that large-scale work to improve the irrigation system is being carried out throughout the country since last year. At least 1 billion soms has been allocated for it.

According to him, this is a big unique project.

«The Cabinet is ready to support such projects. We plan to build 30 small HPPs across the country. We will effectively use water resources and solar energy, as well as introduce a system of drip irrigation. In addition, we begin the construction of Kambarata Hydropower Plant-1,» he said, noting the successful operation of Kumtor mine and a significant increase in the salaries of teachers, doctors, social and cultural workers.

Implementation of the project will be partly financed by a public association and partly by the national budget. The main canal is 2,450 meters long and provides more than 400 hectares of land and farmers engaged in growing of raspberries with water.
