Heads of Government of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan opened a school in Margun village, Batken region of Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Opening of the secondary school took place within the framework of the 4th meeting of the Council of Presidential Envoys to border regions of Kyrgyzstan and khokims of border regions of Uzbekistan. The Heads of Government Akylbek Japarov and Abdulla Aripov took part in the opening ceremony via video conference. The Ministers of Education of the two countries cut the ribbon.
«Development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries is the result of our long-standing historical ties of brotherhood, friendship and good neighborliness. Batken region borders on Fergana region of Uzbekistan, and we stand for expanding and increasing cross-border cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. I want to thank the leadership of the neighboring state for their help in building the school in Batken region. Today’s event is proof that our fraternal ties are only getting stronger and developing,» he said.
The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov stressed that thanks to such events, the friendship between the two fraternal peoples is only strengthening, and wished Kyrgyzstan peace and prosperity.
The press service of the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that 559 students study at the school named after Murzabek Baetov and 40 teachers work there.
An agreement on the construction of the school was reached during the visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov to Uzbekistan on March 11-12, 2021 on personal initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Construction of the new school building for 330 students started in July 2021. The estimated cost of the project was $3.5 million, allocated by Uzbekistan.
