Meeting of a high-level working group on the development of system of labeling of goods by the identification means in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) was held under the direction of the Minister of Commerce of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrei Slepnev. Press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) reported.
It is noted that it was proposed to consider the possibility of imposing a temporary moratorium on labeling of new groups of goods. In addition, it is proposed to postpone the deadline for those goods for which the member states have already received notifications of the intention to introduce labelling.
«It was agreed to work out the terms of a possible moratorium and in the near future to submit a draft act to the heads of the governments. However, all parties have agreed that the existing decisions on the labeling will remain in force,» Andrei Slepnev said.
He also added that the issue is being considered within the preparation of the second package of measures to improve the sustainability of the economies of the EAEU member states.
