Transport Ministry plans to open strategic roads in Batken region for traffic

It is planned to open several strategic roads in Batken region for traffic in 2022. The First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Kaiynbaev told today at a press conference.

According to him, initially, the Ministry of Transport was allocated 2,063 billion soms from the budget. Many local and national roads are destroyed. This year, therefore, the volume of asphalt paving and maintenance repairs will increase.

«The current budget of the district is expected to be 3 billion soms. In addition, 4,6 billion soms are envisaged under the state capital investment program. At least 600 million soms will be allocated to complete work on facilities started in previous years. Another 615 million soms is provided to repair strategic roads in Batken region. We have 37 projects there, 17 of which are high priority. Rehabilitation of Balykchi — Barskoon road will continue this year. We are implementing 13 investment projects in the road sector in Kyrgyzstan. Contractors have already been selected for 11 of them in previous years. Work on their rehabilitation will continue. Two projects are at the stage of selection of a contractor and consultant. These are Balykchy — Korumdu — Balbai and Tyup — Kegen roads. The process will be completed and rehabilitation of these roads will begin in the near future,» Nurlanbek Kaiynbaev told.
