Volodymyr Zelensky signs law on forced seizure of Russia's property

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on the forced seizure of the property of the Russian Federation and its residents in Ukraine. Website of the Verkhovna Rada reports.

According to the document, the property of the Russian Federation and residents is expropriated without any compensation for their value. This is due to Russia’s aggressive actions against Ukraine and its citizens.

On March 3, the Parliament supported a bill on the forced seizure in Ukraine of objects of property rights of the Russian Federation and its citizens.

The situation in Ukraine remains complicated. Fighting continues. Russia started a special military operation on February 24, 2022. The number of military and civilian casualties continues to grow. Many states have imposed and continue to impose severe sanctions on Russia. On the fourth attempt, on the thirteenth day of the conflict, a humanitarian corridor was opened for refugees who decided to leave Ukraine. The first stage of evacuation of civilians from the city of Sumy in north-eastern Ukraine began on March 9.
