«The border guards of Tajikistan began to throw stones at passing cars on Batken — Isfana road in Eki-Tash area of Batken district. They ignored the demand of the Kyrgyz border guards to stop their actions. Kyrgyz servicemen were forced to fire into the air. At this time, another border detachment of Tajikistan, which was on duty in this area, opened fire on the observation tower with the Kyrgyz border guards inside,» the Border Service reported.
There are no victims and wounded from the Kyrgyz side.
«In order to prevent further escalation of the conflict, the border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan held telephone conversations, and then met at the scene of the incident. The units of the Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic, deployed on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the border, are still on the combat alert,» the Border Service said.
