Russian sports competitions to be focused on CIS and BRICS countries

The Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation has organized an operational meeting with representatives of sports federations.

According to the Russian Equestrian Federation, most Russian sports events will be focused on the CIS countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) and the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa).

Participants of the meeting discussed among other things the changes in the status and forms of holding international tournaments.

It was pointed out that there are talks on creation of sports leagues together with these countries.

All-Russian competitions can have an open status, which allows citizens of other states to take part in such tournaments.

In 2020, for example, the Eurasian Equestrian Association was created. Not only the national federations of Regional Group III of the International Equestrian Federation, but also other organizations with an interest in the development of equestrian sport in the Eurasian space became its members.
