Conflict in Ukraine: President Putin voices demands to Ukrainian side

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin said during a meeting of the Security Council that the Ukrainian authorities should recognize Crimea as the territory of the Russian Federation and refuse the possibility of joining NATO. News.ru reports.

Video of Vladimir Putin’s speech was broadcast by Komsomolskaya Pravda YouTube channel.

The Russian leader had previously urged the Ukrainian military to take power into their own hands and not allow the Nazis to use the civilian population as a shield. «Kyiv must recognize Crimea as a territory of the Russian Federation and refuse to join NATO,» he said.

Vladimir Putin noted that the Russian military mainly clash not with regular units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but with nationalist formations. In addition, nationalists embedded in regular units not only incite the military to provide armed resistance, but also perform the functions of barrier squads.

Today is the third day of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. It started on February 24, 2022. On February 25, fighting took place in the north, south and east of the country. Some cities are either blocked or captured. The number of casualties among the military and civilians continues to grow. Western states impose tough sanctions against the Russian Federation, but they refused to fight in Ukraine.
