Commission of Health Ministry to check clinical sites of medical schools

Commission of the Ministry of Health will check the clinical sites of the country’s medical schools. Press center of the ministry of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The commission was created at the instruction of the Minister of Health Alymkadyr Beishenaliev.

«The commission will conduct a check with visits until March 15. Based on the results of the work, additional information will be given,» the ministry noted.

Earlier, the Minister of Health said that he intended to close 17 private medical schools. According to him, it is the Ministry of Health that issues a certificate of the presence of a clinical site. «I am revoking these certificates by order, and then their licenses automatically become invalid. The Ministry of Education will have to close these educational institutions,» he said.

At least 22 higher educational institutions train doctors and pharmacists in the republic. The majority of students in them (77 percent) are citizens of Southeast Asia and the Arab world. In 2020, Pakistan blacklisted medical schools of Kyrgyzstan and did not recommend its citizens to enroll in them. After that, an interdepartmental commission was created in the Kyrgyz Republic to resolve the situation. Later, eight medical schools were able to withdraw from the black list.

Secretary General of the Anti-Corruption Business Council Nuripa Mukanova noted that only six private universities have their own clinical sites, the rest sign contracts with the existing medical institutions. «But when we looked at whether students were doing internships, it turned out that it was only on paper for many of them,» she said.
