«The main advantage of Batken region is its transit potential,» Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, said at a visiting meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which was held in the city of Batken.
It is noted that the issues of further development of the region were discussed, in particular, improvement of infrastructure and roads, social security and state support for citizens, including those from border villages, and creating conditions for the inflow of investments. The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers noted that Batken region is a strategic region.
«In the future, Batken transport corridors will serve not only Batken region, but the entire country and will become development corridors for the entire republic,» the head of the Cabinet noted.
He added that Batken region has all chances to become a transit corridor between Fergana valley and China.
«As soon as we create conditions and use phytosanitary laboratories through Irkeshtam checkpoint, we will be able to export high-quality and organic products to neighboring China. The city of Kyzyl-Kiya will become the largest regional trade hub between Central Asia and China. The airports of Batken and Isfana will receive the status of international ones, Leilek free economic zone will work as it was planned earlier,» Akylbek Japarov said.
The head of the Cabinet stressed that the completion of the delimitation and demarcation of the state border is the main priority of the work of the Cabinet of Ministers.
«The border infrastructure will be improved; new outposts will be built. Plans for the development of Batken region are ambitious, and we will make every effort to implement them,» the head of the Cabinet concluded.
