Two parliamentary factions to hold on-site meeting in Batken

Yntymak and Ishenim parliamentary factions intend to hold an on-site meeting in Batken region on February 5. Press service of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The deputies reportedly intend to discuss the implementation of the law on the status of Batken region, the situation on the border with Tajikistan, as well as the progress of restoration work on elimination of the consequences of the armed conflict that occurred in April 2021.

The speakers on these topics will be Abdikarim Alimbaev, the Presidential Envoy to Batken region, representatives of the State Committee for National Security, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Transport and other departments.

On January 27 at 6.15 p.m., the border guards of Tajikistan blocked a section of Batken — Isfana road in Tort-Kocho area of ​ Batken region. The border units of Kyrgyzstan, deployed on this section of the border in Batken region, switched to an enhanced mode of service. The both sides exchanged fire. The Tajik military used mortars and grenade launchers.

At night, the parties agreed on a complete ceasefire, withdrawal of additional forces and equipment from the border, opening of Batken — Isfana road for traffic and joint patrolling of border areas in order to prevent conflicts.
