The National Hospital of Kyrgyzstan received unique equipment for neurosurgery. The press center of the Ministry of Health reported.
As part of the COVID-19 Emergency Response Project, new neurosurgical equipment (an endoscopy tower with instruments) was purchased for the surgical treatment of a wide range of neurosurgical diseases in post-COVID patients.
«New equipment made it possible to remove hematomas of a sufficiently large size, cysts, tumors, vascular malformations and brain aneurysms without additional retraction of the brain, excision of its sections and additional expansion of the bone defect of the skull,» the ministry noted.
The advantage of the equipment is that trepanation of the skull is not required when performing an operation using endoscopy. Access is provided through small openings in the skull, and some operations are even performed through the nose.
The Ministry of Health added that the purchased endoscopy equipment can reduce the risk of tissue trauma during surgery and prevent possible complications, thereby improving the quality of patient treatment.
In addition to this equipment, a neuronavigation system is expected to be delivered to the National Hospital.
The COVID-19 Emergency Response Project is being implemented with the financial support of the World Bank.
