Head of Customs Service Adilet Kubanychbekov detained on suspicion of corruption

The Chairman of the Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan Adilet Kubanychbekov was detained on suspicion of corruption. Press center of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) reports.

Data on large-scale corruption in the bodies of the Customs Service, in which the management and heads of structural divisions are involved, were received during the ongoing work.

The available information says that the leadership of the Customs Service is lobbying the interests of private companies involved in the import of goods, which are provided with preferential conditions, and customs clearance is carried out in gross violation of the law, illegal schemes are used to hide goods from the customs administration for the systematic bribes.

In addition, for the purpose of personal enrichment, the leadership of the Customs Service, hiding behind the interests of the state, unreasonably overestimates the cost of customs services for foreign economic activity entities provided by affiliated companies.

Based on the facts voiced, a criminal case was initiated under article 336 «Corruption» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic on January 17. The Chairman of the Customs Service Adilet Kubanychbekov was detained on suspicion of committing this crime and placed in a temporary detention facility.

Adilet Kubanychbekov was appointed to the post of Chairman of the Customs Service at the end of October 2021.
