Kasym Tynystanov was a Kyrgyz scholar, poet, statesman and the creator of the Kyrgyz alphabet based on the Latin alphabet (1927-1940).
For «Academic Evenings» play and some other works he was unjustly accused of nationalism, bourgeoisness, for which he was arrested in 1937, and he was shot dead in 1938. Kasym Tynystanov was fully rehabilitated in 1988 and reburied at the Chon-Tash Memorial Complex to the victims of Stalinist repressions.
