Kyrgyzstan technologically lags behind Xinjiang

«There are many myths about Xinjiang,» the former foreign minister and former SCO Secretary General Muratbek Imanaliev said at a meeting of the representatives of China with Chinologists in the Kyrgyz Republic.

According to him, he has been to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Urumqi, and can say that this region is not inferior to Hong Kong.

«We lag behind China technologically and very significantly. It completes the transition to digitalization. It is, probably, impossible to catch up with the PRC. Therefore, we need to send students to technical universities. Our guys should study the states. We do not have country scientists, and this is very bad,» Muratbek Imanaliev said.

He also added that it is necessary to move away from «1 + 5» format, since Kyrgyzstan itself is not interesting to anyone. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are interesting, because there is oil and gas, and based on this, build a format for relations with other states.

Another participant, political scientist Sheradil Baktygulov, noted that it is very important for the Kyrgyz Republic to deepen bilateral relations with China.
