Construction of new complex at Oncology Center to resume in 2022

Construction of a new complex at the Center of Oncology will be resumed in 2022. The Deputy Health Minister of Kyrgyzstan Jalalidin Rakhmatullayev told at a briefing.

According to him, the source of funding and donors are being determined now. «I think that by the end of next year we will finish the construction,» he said.

In addition, he said, construction of an additional building of the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital may begin in the second quarter of 2022 at the expense of loans from the Korean investors. «Construction of a multidisciplinary clinic is also planned through the Korean fund. In October, Kyrgyzstan and Korea signed a memorandum on healthcare. We will submit this issue to the new convocation of the Parliament,» he noted.

It is worth reminding that the construction of the new building has been discussed for several years. The Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy and the Korean side signed a quadripartite memorandum back in 2016. At that time, it was estimated that the new building, built at the expense of a soft loan, would cost $10 million. Then the figure increased to $27 million.

Construction of the new pediatric and adult oncohematology complex began in the fall of 2017. Work has been completed from groundbreaking to the fourth-floor. The original design of the modern pediatric center provided for seven floors. The cost of the facility without equipment was 601.3 million soms. The facility was built without an approved project.

It was planned to accommodate a children’s department in this building. However, in September 2021 it was transferred to a new building constructed at the National Center of Maternal and Child Welfare. There is no money for completion of construction of the new building on the territory of the National Center of Oncology and Hematology.
