The European Union adopted a new Multi-Annual Indicative Programme (MIP) for Kyrgyzstan for 2021-2027. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The programme fully complies with the goals and objectives of the National Development Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2040, the EU Strategy for Central Asia and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Under the programme, the EU will allocate grants to finance projects in such areas as governance and digitalization, human development, green and climate-resilient economy until 2024.
As for governance and digitalization, priority will be given to the promotion and strengthening the rule of law, fair governance and digital transformation.
In the area of human development, it is planned to support inclusive and quality education, gender equality and human rights. As for green and climate resilient economy, efficient and integrated water resources management and green business incentives will be promoted.
The EU also presented a pre-agreed matrix with target indicators for a new programme of budget support for education sector reform, which is scheduled to be approved in 2022.
The bilateral programme will be complemented with resources to support regional cooperation and priority thematic issues such as the ERASMUS + higher education program, trade development, security and scientific partnerships.
