For all the years of Kumtor’s operation, 410 tons of gold worth $ 11.4 billion have been exported from Kyrgyzstan. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov said during an opening ceremony of a testing laboratory for the preparation of geological samples and assaying of the platinum group of elements organized by Stewart Assay and Environmental Laboratories LLC in Kara-Balta city.
According to him, all the mineral resources of the country belong to the Kyrgyz Republic and should serve the interests of citizens, and if Kumtor served the interests of the people, there would be ten times more such laboratories.
«According to the agreements signed, they (the Canadian investor. — Note of 24.kg news agency) had to invest this money in the study of our subsoil, to discover new deposits in Kyrgyzstan. Instead, they acquired deposits in Turkey, Canada, Russia, Mongolia, but not in our country,» Akylbek Japarov said.
He noted the importance of the new laboratory in Kara-Balta. According to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, earlier, due to the lack of conditions for the assaying and chemical analysis of geological and environmental samples, chemical elements, precious metals, the government entered into agreements that were not beneficial for the country.
