Elections 2021: At least 16 polling stations opened abroad

At least 16 polling stations have opened abroad as of 8.00. The Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan (CEC), Nurzhan Shaildabekova, announced at a briefing today.

According to her, the first polling station opened in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (Russia). A total of 59 polling stations have been opened outside the country.

«The lists of voters who will vote outside Kyrgyzstan include 84,128 people. They vote for candidates for deputies from parties in the single electoral district,» Nurzhan Shaildabekova said.

Deputies of the seventh convocation of Parliament are elected in Kyrgyzstan today. The electoral system was changed in the country, so there will be 90 deputies instead of 120. As a result, 54 deputies of the Parliament will be elected according to the proportional system (open lists of candidates of political parties) in the single electoral district, 36 deputies — according to the majority system in single-mandate constituencies.
