Vaccination of teenagers and pregnant women with Pfizer starts in Almaty

Vaccination of children at the age of 12 and older, as well as pregnant and breastfeeding women against COVID-19 with Pfizer started in Almaty. The Kazakh media report.

According to them, college students and pregnant women were invited to vaccination against COVID-19.

The first 379,000 of the planned 4 million doses of Pfizer vaccine were delivered to Kazakhstan on November 10. According to the Ministry of Health, first of all, the vaccine will be available for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, as well as teenagers with the consent of their parents.

The Ministry of Health declined to name the amount allocated from the budget for the purchase of the Pfizer vaccine, citing the terms of the contract. However, the ministry said that the cost of the vaccine is comparable to the price of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, which is used in the country for mass vaccination. Earlier, the country’s authorities stated that a two-dose Sputnik V, bottled at a plant in Karaganda from Russian raw materials, costs $26.
