Former president of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev, has become a defendant in another criminal case on construction of a school in Kalys-Ordo housing estate. His lawyer Sergei Slesarev told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the Military Prosecutor’s Office has severed the case. The remaining people, who are also accused in court together with the ex-mayor of Bishkek, Kubanychbek Kulmatov, are summoned for interrogation. «My client is charged with the fact that he approved the construction of this educational institution. It is nonsense,» Sergei Slesarev said.
There are six cases pending in the proceedings of the Military Prosecutor’s Office, in which Almazbek Atambayev is a suspect.
Recall, the Leninsky District Court and the Bishkek City Court have already made their decisions on the school construction, sentencing Albek Ibraimov to 15 years in prison, another former head of the city of Kubanychbek Kulmatov — to a fine of 5 million soms. The remaining defendants were also fined.
Several episodes were combined into one criminal case: construction of a school funded at the expense of a Chinese grant, sale of Solnechniy Bereg resort and special products of Dastan TNK, as well as provision of municipal land plots for use by individuals and legal entities.
