Rally against law on management of news held in Bishkek

Rally against the law on management of news is held in Bishkek near the building of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.

The scandalous bill is considered today by deputies in the second and third readings.

Protesters demand to revoke amendments to legislation. In their opinion, they violate freedom of speech.

According to the head of Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan, Tolekan Ismailova, since ancient times the Kyrgyz people used to say «one can cut off head, but can’t cut off tongue.»

«Hands off journalists, hands off freedom of speech. We know when people died for freedom of speech. The Kyrgyz people have never tolerated those who stepped on human dignity. Freedom of speech is a source of inspiration. Earlier, we sent to deputies a lot of expertise in order the deputies not to be mistaken. Unfortunately, they continue to escalate the situation,» Tolekan Ismailova said.

Earlier, lawyers of Adilet Legal Clinic and media experts noted that the bill is discriminatory and, if adopted, will not protect, but violate the constitutional rights of citizens.

Deputy Gulshat Asylbaeva was urged to withdraw the scandalous initiative. She replied that it was «the most wonderful bill.»
