Situation at border. EEU norms not violated, Kazakhstan believes

Kazakhstan does not violate the legislation of the Eurasian Economic Union, but requires full compliance of goods with documents. Acting Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kuat Rakhimov said at a press conference in the Central Communications Service.

«I do not agree that we violate the law. We have concerns that someone does not fully exercise their functions. We do not impose bans and restrictions, we only demand compliance of the goods with documents,» he said.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Finance, there is a problem with payment of indirect taxes. He noted that in transportation of goods from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan, taxes must be paid on the territory of Kazakhstan. Certain goods are claimed as transit from the Kyrgyz Republic to Russia, but in fact they remain on the Kazakhstan’s market.

«The problem of indirect taxes remains very large and open. The second point concerns invoices. They indicate one product, and in fact there is another. The quantity, cost and volume are being lowered, and this is the basis for the same indirect taxes,» Kuat Rakhimov is sure.

From March 27 to April 4, at least 265 vehicles with Kyrgyz goods entered Kazakhstan, 455 trucks moved through.

Recall, problems on Kyrgyzstan — Kazakhstan border arose from March 19, 2019, when Kazakhstan began to carefully inspect all cargoes. The Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan considers additional inspection and documentary requirements as a violation of EEU norms. Moreover, the ministry appealed to the Government with a request to withdraw the ministers of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) from the Kyrgyz Republic for consultations.
