Compulsory life insurance is another financial burden for Kyrgyz citizens, who go abroad to earn money. Zamandash association reported.
According to the organization, officials claim that insurance will help relatives of migrants if they die in another country.
«We are concerned about the attempt to impose a new financial burden on citizens. Migrants leaving the country to work are most often the people with material difficulties, trying to improve their economic situation and of their relatives. It is not clear on what basis the cost of an insurance policy of 300 soms is offered,» the association noted.
The organization reminded that, according to the Prime Minister Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev, there were 750,000 Kyrgyzstanis abroad.
«Each of them crosses the border at least once a year. Thanks to them, one can collect 225 million soms. But it is necessary to take into account the huge flow of Kyrgyzstanis, who cross the border for other reasons — business trips, vacation. Collections in aggregate will exceed the amount required for the transportation of cargo 200 — 15 million soms. It is more like a business scheme than care for ordinary people,» the association added.
The organization believes that the enforcement of monetary payments as a condition for leaving the country is contrary to the Constitution of Kyrgyzstan and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which guarantee the residents of the Kyrgyz Republic the right to freely leave it. According to the association, insurance should be voluntary.
