The Military Prosecutor’s Office of Kyrgyzstan dropped criminal charges against Major General Nuridin Chomoev. Own sources informed 24.kg news agency.
The case was closed due to the fact that the general paid the damage to the state.
«The investigation found out that the General Nuridin Chomoev caused damage to the state in the amount of 552,000 soms. He was recognized as a peacekeeping soldier based on a certificate. Due to the fact that the statute of limitations expired, the person who issued the document was not brought to criminal responsibility. In addition, the Military Prosecutor’s Office did not find elements of a crime in Nuridin Chomoev’s actions,» the sources said.
Earlier, the Military Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal case against the ex-chief of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Nuridin Chomoev. He received a pension supplement and allowance for alleged participation in hostilities in Yemen. However, hostilities in this country are recognized as such only from October 1962 to March 1963 and from November 1967 to December 1969.
Nuridin Chomoev was on a business trip in Yemen from July 1986 to June 1989. According to official data, there was no fighting in the country at that time.
