Commission reveals multi-million payments to false Afghan war veterans

An interdepartmental commission for the check of unlawful use of privileges revealed that the payments to false Afghan war veterans for 8 years amounted to 129,156,000 soms in Kyrgyzstan. Own sources informed 24.kg news agency.

Colonel General Abdygul Chotbaev confirmed the information. He clarified that the work of the commission continued.

According to him, the number of fake veterans has increased by 73 people. If in 2017 there were 159 pseudo-Afghan war veterans, there are 229 of them now. The commission checked military cards and historical data. The number of pseudo-Afghan war veterans includes current and former officers of the General Staff, the State Committee for National Security, the Frontier Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Penitentiary Service and the State Tax Service.

«Information from archives about 136 people was not received. At least 9 people in the Interior Ministry are not veterans of the war in Afghanistan, 21 people did not provide confirming documents. The Emergency Situations Ministry has 29 people in the list of veterans of the war in Afghanistan, but nine of them could not confirm this. There are 20 such people in the State Border Service, six of them have not submitted documents, and one warrant officer is not a participant of the Afghan hostilities,» Abdygul Chotbaev told.

The State Tax Service has 14 veterans in the list, but four of them were not able to confirm this.

The State Penitentiary Service has 22 Afghan war veterans; three people did not submit documents. The list of the State Committee for National Security includes 22 participants of the war in Afghanistan, 11 people could not submit documents.

There are not only soldiers and officers, but also well-known superannuated generals among those who illegally received a surcharge of 6,000 soms. In particular, names of Major General Rysbek Mirzamatov and Major General Nuridin Chomoev were mentioned.
