Citizen of Kyrgyzstan Abylet Turdakun was released from a re-education camp in China. Representatives of the Committee for Protection of the Kyrgyz in China informed 24.kg news agency.
According to them, Abylet Turdakun contacted his friends in Bishkek. «He asked not to ask too much. Probably, he is still supervised. Most importantly, we know that he is free. His father is now sick, so Abylet will remain in China,» the committee representatives said.
According to them, Abylet Turdakun was detained in 2017 immediately after arriving in China from Kyrgyzstan. He obtained citizenship of Kyrgyzstan in 2016.
Earlier, the Committee for Protection of the Kyrgyz in China announced the detention of the Kyrgyz in the PRC. According to some information, about 22,000 Kyrgyz were sent to re-education camps only in Akchy area.
They asked the President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Jeenbekov, the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Ombudsman to help with release of their relatives from the re-education camps in China.
