Commandant of General Staff placed in military confinement for 2 months

Commandant of the General Staff of Kyrgyzstan Ermek Uraliev was placed in a military confinement for two months. Own sources informed 24.kg news agency.

His deputy, who was detained when receiving a bribe of 18,000 soms, was released because the money was intended directly for Ermek Uraliev.

«According to preliminary data, the commandant of the General Staff demanded 20,000 soms from a company that supplied food products. The statement was received by the Anti-Corruption Service of the State Committee for National Security. The serviceman was detained by representatives of the Military Prosecutor’s Office and employees of the Military Counterintelligence Directorate of SCNS. The court found Ermek Uraliev’s detention lawful,» the sources said.

The Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed the detention of Ermek Uraliev. The soldier was charged with fraud using official position.

Recall, the Deputy Chief of the Commandant’s Service of the General Staff was caught red-handed while receiving a bribe on December 13. Earlier, the Military Prosecutor’s Office, based on the materials of the Anti-Corruption Service of the State Committee for National Security, filed a criminal case on the fact of extortion of a bribe.
