Deputy Tazabek Ikramov put forward another initiative. He believes that it is necessary to check the citizenship of founders and leaders of all the media in Kyrgyzstan, especially those who receive funding from abroad.
According to Tazabek Ikramov, the media financed by grant funds impose on the Kyrgyz people an alien point of view and carry out improper propaganda. In his opinion, this undermines the foundations of the country’s information security.
Recall, in 2016 the Parliament approved a bill on amending the law on mass media. The document prohibits foreign citizens and organizations from founding and owning media in Kyrgyzstan, and also bans the activities of media with foreign funding. Media experts criticized the changes.
Tazabek Ikramov also demanded to check the citizenship of all deputies, ministers, and military personnel.
