Kyrgyzstan receives loans and grants for $ 9.8 billion since independence

Since 1992, Kyrgyzstan has attracted $ 9,816.3 billion in loans and grants. The Minister of Finance Adylbek Kasymaliev announced the day before at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Budget and Finance.

According to him, 24.9 percent of the funds were directed to transport projects, 21.7 percent — to energy industry, 5.4 percent — to the social sector, and 3.6 percent — to agriculture. The main donors of Kyrgyzstan are the Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, the Eurasian Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development,Export—Import Bank of China, Russia, Japan and Turkey.

As of July 31, 2018, the national debt of the country reached $ 4,415.26 billion or 300,502.46 billion soms. At least $ 3,808.03 billion (259,174.27 billion soms) of the sum is external, and $ 607.23 million (41,328.19 billion soms) is internal debt.
