During the last two years of Almazbek Atambayev’s rule, 25 people have been convicted for political reasons. In total, they have to spend 155 years in prison. A member of the Committee of Political Prisoners Zulfiya Marat said this today at a press conference in 24.kg news agency.
According to her, all 25 people have been persecuted for their political beliefs since March 2016.
«The materials of many criminal cases were closed, and no evidence was presented in addition to the allegations. For example, an audio recording disappeared in the case on attempted coup d’etat. Abdil Segizbayev managed to commit a terrible crime, and a citizen of an independent country could not protect his rights,» Zulfiya Marat said.
