The current law of Kyrgyzstan does not regulate the activities of namazkanas (prayer rooms). Zakir Chotaev, Deputy Director of the State Commission for Religious Affairs, said at the presentation of changes to the law on Freedom of Religion and Religious Organizations in the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to him, there are more than 400 prayer rooms in the country.
«But the current law has no concept of «a room for prayer,» while the religious activities are conducted in many namazkanas, but the religious organizations are half-empty. We introduce a new term in the law — «namazkana» and determine its purpose. Such rooms are organized only for prayers,» says Zakir Chotaev.
Recall, there are two prayer rooms in the building of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.
