Civil activist Ondurush Toktonasyrov held one more single picket, this time, in support of the detained Kazakhstani blogger Muratbek Tungishbaev, demanding not to extradite him to Kazakhstan.
He came to the Supreme Court building in a white T-shirt.
«The white T-shirt symbolizes that we, the Kyrgyz, should protect Murat Tengishbaev. Democracy and human rights are universal values, and they apply to both the Kyrgyz citizens and the foreigners, especially to those, who came to seek protection in our republic. This is a very important precedent. If we extradite Tungishbaev, then any other person, who is persecuted in his country, will not seek protection and hope in Kyrgyzstan,» said Ondurush Toktonasyrov.
Earlier, the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan Kubat Otorbaev appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to refuse to satisfy the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan to extradite the blogger.
On May 10, officers of the State Committee for National Security detained Murat Tungishbaev on suspicion of belonging to «Democratic Choice of Kazakhstan» movement. The special services searched the apartment of the Kazakh citizen on the basis of the decision of Almaty court.
The Bishkek City Court left the resident of Kazakhstan Murat Tungishbaev in custody.
