The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sooronbai Jeenbekov, is worried about the recruitment of Kyrgyzstanis into the ranks of terrorists. He stated the day before at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
According to him, a new stage in the development of the SCO was taking place amid the complex changes in the world. They affect both the situation in some regions and the system of international relations in general.
«I believe that within the framework of the SCO, it is necessary to conduct a permanent dialogue and develop coordinated positions on topical issues on the international agenda. Against the backdrop of developments in the Middle East, the issue of preserving peace and stability in the region is becoming particularly important. Over the past few years, in connection with the events in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, the tendency of the participation of citizens of the region in various religious extremist movements is growing. We are concerned about the active propaganda and recruitment of our compatriots into the ranks of mercenary terrorists. They must not be allowed into the Central Asian region in any way,» said Sooronbai Jeenbekov.
He added that it was necessary to take coordinated measures within the SCO in respect of those persons, who return to their home countries.
