Oleg Pankratov: Digitization can solve all problems between EEU countries

«The problems that arise between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union today can be solved through digitization,» the former vice prime minister of Kyrgyzstan Oleg Pankratov said at a round table discussion today.

According to him, the recent confrontation between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan has exposed many problems. But they were known before the situation on the border deteriorated. However, the very fact of the problems on the border was useful. From the economic point of view, the sides saw their gray areas, Oleg Pankratov believes.

Gray areas are inherent not only in Kyrgyzstan. They are also in Kazakhstan. This is clearly seen in the framework of the commitments of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the protocol on accession to the World Trade Organization.

«We do not see any concrete mechanisms and actions for implementing guarantees that the goods from the EU will be used only in Kazakhstan. Russia also has problems with Belarus. All of them are resolved through digitization,» Oleg Pankratov believes.

«As soon as we launch the project on electronic tracking of goods, when we digitize everything, as soon as the goods cross the border of the EEU, everyone will see its movement. Illegal goods will be easily found at any stage of its movement through the territory of the union. The entry into force of the Customs Code of EEU and the implementation of the tracking mechanism in the legislation will allow once and for all to resolve many of the problems that are present in the EEU,» he concluded.
