Military from Kyrgyzstan to take part in CSTO exercises

Tajikistan, from November 10 to November 20, will host joint exercises of the Collective Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) «Preparation and conducting of joint operation to eliminate illegal armed formations in mountainous terrain.»

During the exercises, which will be held in close proximity to the Afghan border at five ranges of the Tajik Armed Forces, tactical episodes with live firing and extensive use of aviation and air defense will be played out. The detachments and military units of all CSTO member countries — Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan — will take part in them.

It is a total of more than 5,000 servicemen, 60 aircrafts and helicopters, over 1,500 units of weapons, military and special equipment, including Iskander missile systems, long-range and front-line aircrafts.

The CSTO Secretary General Yury Khachaturov will participate in the active phase of the exercises.
