Committee approves denunciation of agreement on refusal of $100 mln grant

The Parliamentary Committee on Budget and Finance today approved the denunciation of an agreement on the refusal of grant aid of Kazakhstan in amount of $ 100 million within the Eurasian Economic Union.

Deputies listened to the Deputy Prime Minister Duishenbek Zilaliev.

«We decided to say no to these means. We do not need them any more. We will seek sources of financing from the budget or from outside,» the official explained.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the construction of the main part of 14 laboratories, that meet the requirements of EEU, has been completed by today. The funds for these laboratories were found by Kyrgyzstan itself.

Duishenbek Zilaliev promised that the works would be completed by the end of the year.

The bill on denunciation of the agreement with Kazakhstan was sent by the Kyrgyz government to the Parliament last week.

Under the agreement, Kazakhstan, to assist the processes of integration of Kyrgyzstan into the Eurasian Economic Union, was supposed to render assistance to the Kyrgyz side, equivalent to $ 100 million. The first tranche of $ 41 million was to be transferred last week.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan stated that «official information from the Kyrgyz side has not been received.»
