Bishkek city court upholds verdict to Omurbek Tekebayev

The Bishkek City Court ended consideration of an appeal against the verdict of the Pervomaisky District Court in the case of MP Omurbek Tekebayev and ex-head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Duishenkul Chotonov.

The panel of judges, chaired by Adis Momunaliev, read out the verdict, keeping in force an initial sentence with 8 years in prison with confiscation of property for Omurbek Tekebayev and Duyshenkul Chotonov.

The same decision was made on August 16 by the judge of the Pervomaisky District Court, Aibek Ernis uulu.

Note, the verdict was read without the defendants, who left the hall before lunch in protest, and without their lawyers. Supporters of the latter also left the hall at the time when the judge read out the decision.
