3,800 bags of garbage taken away from Issyk-Kul shore for 2 days

3,800 bags of garbage were taken away from Issyk-Kul shore for 2 days within Taza Issyk-Kul campaign. One of the organizers Dmitry Andreev told 24.kg news agency.

«Recyclable garbage was taken by two heavy trucks, not recyclable waste was taken away to landfills by the local authorities. The campaign was attended by 1,500 people, about 650 volunteers came from Bishkek, the rest were local residents who supported our initiative," Dmitry Andreev said.

Fortunately, we cleaned up fewer areas, as local authorities, having learned about the large-scale campaign, cleaned up the area by themselves.

«We wanted to urge local residents to pay more attention to the environment so that they see the problem and do everything to prevent negative environmental consequences in the future," the activist said.

«The main thing, as it happens with many campaigns, there was no coercion on the part of the authorities. People came by themselves, supporting us," added Dmitry Andreev.

The organizers of the campaign were Eco Demi NGO and the movement Taza Issyk-Kul, they were supported by the authorities of Issyk-Kul region.

Recall, more than 5 tons of garbage were collected with the help of volunteers on the coast of Issyk-Kul within the same project in early May.
