Campaign to reduce salt consumption launched in Kyrgyzstan

An information campaign «Let’s shake the salting habit» was launched in Kyrgyzstan. The Republican Center for Health Promotion and Mass Communication reported.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of the risks of excess salt consumption and encourage healthier lifestyles. It is being carried out in cooperation with the Department of State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance and the WHO Representative Office in Kyrgyzstan.

The center noted that the main factor that contributes to the development of cardiovascular diseases is high consumption of table salt. At the same time, cardiovascular diseases are in first place in terms of mortality. Almost every second adult Kyrgyzstani has high blood pressure.
