MFA of Kyrgyzstan: Biometric data allow to make agreements on visa-free regime

New biometric passports will make it possible to conclude agreements on visa-free travel with other countries. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev stated this at the session of the Parliament today.

Deputies are considering a memorandum between Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates on the possibility of staying in the UAE for up to 90 days without a visa for holders of diplomatic passports. Deputy Dastan Bekeshev asked how many people in Kyrgyzstan received such passports. It turned out that there are 1,071 of them.

Recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has achieved that their citizens with simple passports could stay in the UAE for 30 days without a visa. And we only agreed on diplomatic passports. Why does our Foreign Affairs Ministry fail to seek a visa-free regime for ordinary citizens?

Erlan Abdyldaev replied that the work was under way. However, now the Foreign Affairs Ministry is working only with those agreements that were concluded earlier. There were no new agreements.

«It depends on the ordinary passports themselves. When the countries trust our passport, then they will be ready to discuss visa-free regime. Order is necessary in ensuring the safety of passports. Now we are introducing biometric passports. Thanks to this, we will be able to introduce visa-free travel for ordinary passports," Erlan Abdyldaev stressed.
