Kyrgyzstanis imitate pregnancy to keep adoption secret

Women in Kyrgyzstan imitate pregnancy in order to keep the adoption a secret, the head of the department for the protection of the family and children of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development Janyl Dzhumabaeva said today at a press conference.

According to her, 187 files of children left without parental care at the age of 1 to 18 years were registered in the state databank. They live in different institutions (private, specialized, neuropsychiatric). At the same time, more than 200 families of Kyrgyz citizens are on the waiting list for adoption.

Janyl Dzhumabaeva noted that Kyrgyzstanis want to adopt children up to 3–4 years in order to preserve the secret of adoption.

Residential care institutions are a home for 8,888 children, including the institutions for orphans and children left without parental care — a little over a thousand children.
