The Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan may recommend the Parliament the date of the presidential election. The member of CEC Kairat Osmonaliev informed 24.kg news agency.
According to him, this practice exists and in 2015 as well as in the local elections in 2016, the Central Election Commission proposed certain dates in order to have a period of time for preparation.
«As for the presidential elections, according to the law, we must have four months for the organization. If according to the first part of Article 48 of the electoral law elections will be held on November 19, that is, on the third Sunday of the month, then we must start preparations on July 19 — officially. And if it will be on October 1 or 15, then we will start preparing either on June 1 or June 15 respectively," Kairat Osmonaliev said and added that the CEC is now waiting for the deputies to adopt an amendment to the law on which the campaign would be held on the third Sunday in October.
«Most members of the commission tend to the date established by law, that is, November 19," Kairat Osmonaliev said.
Earlier, adviser to the head of state Farid Niyazov commented on the discussion on the date of the presidential election — deputies of the parliamentary faction Ata Meken stated that they must take place on August 27, 2017.
