Brucellosis incidence growth registered in Bishkek

The growth in the incidence of brucellosis is observed in Bishkek. The State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision Center of the capital informed 24.kg news agency.

According to it, the situation with several diseases — brucellosis, echinococcosis, tuberculosis and viral hepatitis A — in the capital remains tense.

The incidence of brucellosis increased 3.2 times in 2016. Growth continues in 2017. Only in the first three months of the year, 8 cases were registered compared to 5 cases in 2016 that is 1.6 times more.

At least 16 percent of the cases are children under 14 and about 80 percent — are people of working age.

Brucellosis, if not treated, leads to permanent disability and causes significant economic damage.

In addition, the situation with other diseases remains tense. So, 117 cases of echinococcosis and alveococcosis were registered for 3 months of 2017 in Bishkek, the growth amounted to 47.5 percent.

However, there was a decrease in viral hepatitis A and tuberculosis during the same period in the capital.

The incidence of viral hepatitis A was reduced by 37 percent, and tuberculosis — by 7.2 percent.
