Emergency situations damage amounts to more than 1bln soms in 2016

Damage caused by emergency situations in Kyrgyzstan in 2016 amounted to 1, 6,176 billion soms. Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Kalys Akhmatov said at a meeting in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic on the results of the Civil Protection for 2016 and tasks for 2017.

According to him, the agency staff made 1, 635 on-site visits and rescued 408 people in the last year.

As he noted, 124 people were recued in fires, however, 80 people died and damage from fires amounted to 714 million soms.

In addition, the ministry inspected the places where natural and man-made emergencies are possible.

There are 10, 695 places in the republic, where natural hazards are possible, 4, 467 of them are considered to be dangerous. There are also 11, 808 areas, where man-made disasters are possible, 11, 747 are considered to be hazardous.
