The Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Boobek Azhikeev met with the World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Tatiana Proskuryakova in Bishkek.
He thanked the World Bank for its support in implementation of important projects to protect the country’s population and territories from emergency situations, noting long-term cooperation in disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate change.
The parties discussed the progress of current World Bank projects and outlined priority areas for further cooperation.
«Special attention was paid to issues of increasing capacity in forestry monitoring and addressing climate challenges,» the ministry noted.
Tatiana Proskuryakova emphasized the importance of partnership with Kyrgyzstan and confirmed the World Bank’s readiness to support new environmental initiatives aimed at improving sustainability and reducing the risks of natural disasters.
